Supported housing

The CHS Group is a charitable organisation providing housing, care and community services to people in East Cambridgeshire:

  • 16 to 64 year olds in East Cambridgeshire who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • homeless families with support needs
  • single people who are homeless and have support needs
  • teenage parents
  • women fleeing domestic abuse
  • offenders or people at risk of offending
  • people with learning disabilities
  • people with mental health difficulties
  • people who use drugs and alcohol 

Support can include:

  • finding a home and setting up a tenancy
  • keeping the home safe and secure
  • setting up a budget and paying bills
  • developing life skills
  • accessing education, training and employment
  • help with literacy and numeracy
  • help with accessing other services

Warm Space - Thursday 9am-12noon, Jubilee Centre - A warm community space

Open Space - Wednesdays 10am-12:30pm, St Mary’s Church - Refreshments and chat

Coffee Drop-In - Second and Fourth Tuesday of the month 10am-11:30am, Methodist Church rooms - Coffee, cake and chat

Chill and Chat Café - Thursdays 9am-11am, Countess Free Church - Hot drink, friendly chat and prayer, support groups:  Listening Ears, Digital Help Corner, Art Activities, Jigsaw Fun.

Recovery Café - Mondays 10am-12noon, Countess Church buildings - Recovery café run by CGL – NHS provider of drug and alcohol recovery services (informal partnership with the church.) Free tea, coffee, slice of toast. Friendly, safe and welcoming environment.

Ely Foodbank Distribution - Tuesdays 11am-12:30pm, Fridays 1pm-2:30pm, Countess Church buildings.

LuvEly Food Pantry - Mondays 11am-12noon, Wednesdays 11am-12noon, Thursdays 1pm-2pm, Lighthouse Centre - Surplus food from local supermarkets and cafes, distributed to people in need. Thursdays include a café where people can have a hot drink and snack, and a chat with friendly volunteers.

Ely and District CAP Centre (Christians Against Poverty) - Wednesdays 10am-12noon, St Mary’s Warm Space - Free debt counselling.
