The darker and colder winter months can take a toll on our mental and physical health and wellbeing. For recommendations on how to look after your health during winter, consult the NHS Live-well Website and the CPSL Mind caring for your mental health in winter guide.
For other winter health and wellbeing recommendations, see the tips on this page:
For other practical information on staying safe and warm this winter, consult our Community Advice Team's and Cambridgeshire County Council's winter webpages.
If you are struggling with staying warm in winter, consider visiting your local warm space or community hub. These spaces also offer the opportunity to access support and connect with others in a safe environment.
To find a list of warm community spaces near you, visit Cambridgeshire Acre’s website, or East Cambridgeshire District Council has a Community Hubs page. The Warm Welcome Campaign has a Find a Space page where you can search by location, and it will show you all the local warm spaces nearby.
Just like us, your pets and animals may need some extra care when it is darker and colder.
The RSPCA provides further advice on keeping pets safe in cold weather.
The Met Office provides advice to the public through its Weather Ready campaign.
Updates from the Met Office can be found on the MET Office X account or Met Office website.
